Environmental, Social & Governance

With over 40 years of supplying quality consumables across Australia, we have evolved to become the company we are today thanks to the help of our customers and partners who continue to support us throughout these decades.

Livingstone is committed to giving back to the community in much needed areas through ethical sourcing, quality & assurance, diversity, inclusivity, gender equality and environmental initiatives. Livingstone is committed to sustainable development by minimising single use plastic sales, ensuring ethical corporate governance, supply chain transparency and by reducing its climate change impact through emissions reduction.

Livingstone follows six pillars that reinforce our commitment based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

Environmental initiatives

We understand the responsibility and the importance we hold over how we can improve our operations for a greener planet.

Livingstone practices environmental initiatives within our offices and warehouses and as a result, we are ISO 14001 certified which is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system within workplaces.

We are working hard with our suppliers and partners to create and provide a wide range of eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to your everyday products. We're committed to ensuring that these products will be accessible to all our customers and partners so that they can create greener choices and reduce our environmental impact on the world.

Climate Change

Livingstone recognises the importance of reducing our carbon footprint in all aspects of business, from our offices, to our dispatch facilities and with our suppliers and factories.

We have begun to implement this through our supply chain, consolidating our orders to minimise gas emissions. In our offices and warehouse facilities we have introduced energy efficient lighting, fuel efficient vehicles and recycling programs. Our warehouses are now undergoing paperless orders. All cardboard is recycled and repurposed to replace bubble wrap.

We have introduced environmentally friendly packaging and expanding our new eco-conscious range LivEco. We will continue to improve our business practices and have invested in a Carbon Neutral Sustainability Initiative to help us reach our goal of becoming carbon neutral by the end 2024.

Watch this short video on how we will achieve our Carbon Neutral Sustainability Initiative by the end of 2024.

Commitment to Sustainability

Livingstone International is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and minimising its environmental impact across all facets of its operations. From its offices and dispatch facilities to its supply chain and supplier relationships, sustainability is a central focus. Our ongoing efforts aim to integrate eco-friendly practices into every aspect of our business, ensuring that we contribute to a greener, more circular economy.

Our Current Sustainability Initiatives
We have already made significant progress in our sustainability journey and are constantly striving to enhance our practices.

  • Optimising Our Supply Chain to Minimise Emissions: We have streamlined our ordering and delivery processes in line with our commitment to reducing carbon emissions. By consolidating shipments wherever possible, we reduce transport-related emissions and help create a more efficient supply chain.
  • Energy-Efficient Offices and Warehouse Facilities: We have implemented energy-efficient lighting and fuel-efficient vehicles across our offices and warehouses to reduce energy consumption. Additionally, all cardboard packaging is recycled and repurposed to replace plastic bubble wrap, minimising waste and encouraging the reuse of materials.
  • Paperless Orders and Recycling Programs: Our warehouses are transitioning to paperless order processing, significantly reducing paper waste. By eliminating the need for printed invoices and order forms, we decrease paper consumption and further contribute to sustainability efforts. Going paperless also streamlines our operations, reducing clutter and improving efficiency.
  • Eco-Friendly Packaging with LivEco: In our commitment to providing sustainable solutions, we've introduced LivEco, our eco-conscious product range. LivEco features packaging and products that are both environmentally friendly and designed for recycling, giving our customers access to sustainable alternatives for their everyday office and workplace needs.

Partnering with APCO and Promoting a Circular Economy
As a proud Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) member, Livingstone International is committed to advancing sustainable packaging solutions and supporting the circular economy. Our membership allows us to collaborate with industry leaders and partners to ensure our packaging practices align with national sustainability goals. We are also integrating Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) product labelling that guides customers on recycling and disposing of packaging, assisting participation in a circular economy.

Livingstone International is dedicated to creating a sustainable future through our ongoing commitment to reducing emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting recycling. By partnering with APCO, introducing clear labelling for recycling, and expanding our eco-friendly product offerings, we are taking decisive steps toward a more circular economy and a greener planet.

Quality and Assurance

At Livingstone, one of our main goals is to provide quality products at a competitive price. Throughout the years, our supply chain has constantly improved and updated to ensure that we are providing our customers with assurance over the quality of our products.

We pride ourselves on ensuring third party quality testing is performed prior to any shipment on all products to ensure we meet and exceed Australian, American and European standards. Our medical items are ARTG Certified and food items are HACCP Certified.

We are also an accredited Australian Trusted Partner which is a partnership between Australian businesses and the Australian Government to streamline legitimate trade.

Ethical Sourcing

Livingstone is proud to be a member of Sedex; an organisation that enables businesses to work together to better manage their social and environmental performance and improve working conditions throughout the supply chain.

At Livingstone, we ensure to put an emphasis on the importance of behaviour and morals with all our suppliers before we go into business with them. Our main focus of managing our connections with our new and existing suppliers is ensuring they share our commitments to social and environmental responsibilities.

Equality and Safety

At Livingstone, we instil a company culture of equality and safety. Our partners and suppliers are given the code of conduct and are required to provide safe working conditions and to treat employees fairly and ethically. Livingstone requires its suppliers to operate by all applicable laws and regulations.

Livingstone encourage equal opportunities and pay in all roles within the workplace to support growth, stability and empowerment despite your gender or sexuality. Livingstone maintains 45% to 55% of female leadership and representation in senior leadership roles.

Diversity and Inclusivity

As an Australian-owned company, we are passionate about developing key initiatives that support and provide opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, their communities, and businesses. We have partnered with not-for-profit organisations that celebrate diversity.

We are proud to announce our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders brands, Miyan and Duga that hand, will endorse our intentions of supporting Indigenous communities. We worked closely with Aboriginal artists Jason Douglas & Trevor Eastwood from Dalmarri in creating artwork for the packaging to help us depict our story and vision to improve healthcare to all communities by providing access to quality products.

Through our collaboration with Dalmarri, we were able to contribute to their movement in providing education and awareness to corporations, individuals and schools across Australia through art and further employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Livingstone International acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Australia on which we operate and acknowledges their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the Elders past and present.
